Works, with workarounds

Support has been the weak link for us, one excellent phone call and three chat sessions that went in circles. The software itself is steady.

Pros

Receipt capture works as advertised.

Cons

None yet worth noting.

Small business books without the bookkeeper

Copilot flagged a supplier invoice that had been keyed twice before payment went out. It has paid for itself several times over on that alone.

Too many little battles

Every quarter something small goes wrong right before the VAT deadline, and every quarter I remember I am the one who chose this. The relationship is strained.

Great value while the discount lasts, still fair after it

Started on the £4.30 offer price for Standard which felt almost free. The jump to full price at month seven was a shock to the direct debit but for what we get it is still cheaper than the bookkeeper hours it replaced.

Receipt capture is the feature we use most, suppliers hand us paper receipts all day and they all end up posted correctly. Payroll for our four staff is included which saved us the separate payroll subscription we had.

Cons

Stock features are too basic for ingredient level tracking so we still run that in a spreadsheet. Diarise when your discount ends because Sage will not remind you loudly.

Small business books without the bookkeeper

Every document, quote and invoice for four years is searchable in seconds. The filing cabinet went to the tip last spring.

Not the upgrade we hoped

Individually the problems are small, a dropped feed here, a stuck import there, a support chat that answers a different question. Together they make every month heavier than the product we left.

Exports work, which we have tested for the obvious reason.

Almost everything we need

The monthly cost is fair for what it does, especially with payroll included. Knock a star off for the occasional sluggish afternoon and limited invoice templates.

Adequate is the honest word

The mobile app promises more than it delivers, fine for photographing receipts, frustrating for anything else. Desktop is where everything really happens.

We moved off spreadsheets when the second employee started and I wish we had done it two years earlier. Everything since has been quicker and more accurate.
